19. CLAY GLASS
The wall of the clay dish is dented, because of it the surface grew bigger, it cooled the
liquid in the glass better and it was easier to hold.

33. KNIFE
The knives – among them such single-edged iron knives with pliers and grip buttons –
were an indisposed tool in everyday life, and they were often put in male tombs.

34. SWORD
The ring-stained iron sword was found in a tomb, soldiers assigned to special duty in the
governor”s office wore them.

35. ASSEGAI
They found this iron spearhead on a ship that sank on the Danube, the stabbing weapon
was used by both infantry and cavalry.

46. POT
First of all they cooked in these clay pots, but used them – like this piece – as a funeral
urn.

47. A PIECE OF THE ARMOUR
This curved iron sheet could have been part of the plate armour, with bronze rivets
attached to the plates.

50. PLATE
They didn”t paint this clay plate, their characteristic is brownish red from burnout.

56. GLASS
This thin-walled clay drinking glass was a characteristic dish type in the II. century.

157. RIVETS OF MILITARY HORNS
The soles of Roman soldiers” footwear and sandals were knocked out with these tiny
studs, this gives the sole a rough, resistant and stable surface similar to today”s boots for
durability and safety.

159. ROOF TILE
They often put the stamp of their manufacturer on the roof tiles, if the soldiers or military
units made them, then most of the time they put the legion or the team’s name on it, while
civil brickmakers fitted their own names on it, for example LVPICINITR[…].

166. NAIL
One of the most common iron finds in Roman sites is the nail, this iron nail was used for a
beam.

167. CHAIN
The Romans used three types of iron chains, among them the easiest, but the least
strong was that chain which consisted of simple, oval grains, the other two were stronger
types and they had sponge cake form and had eight shaped eyes.

175. BONE CHIP
The Romans used this decorated bone disk for one of their beloved, while waiting to
chase away boredom, for their mill-like board game, to which a table scratched on stairs,
floor stones may have been included.

179. BRONZE ORNAMENT
This bronze object decorated with raised concentric circles and equipped with two straps
adorned the breastplate of military armour or decorative horse gear.
