31. ROSARY
The pearls were strung on a chain so the prayer could be counted, and when it wasn’t in
use, it was placed in the holy corner of the clean room, on the home stoup.

32. HOLY WATER FONT
The holy water font stood in the holy corner inside the house, the family members dipped
their fingers in it and made the sign of the cross.

35. HOME ALTAR
The Holy Family, painted porcelain piece, sits on a silk covered altar, which could be
placed in a frame that can be hung on the wall in the holy corner of the house.

36. PIETÀ
Those works of art are called pietàs, which depict the Virgin Mary holding her dead son –
taken from the cross – in her lap.

37, 39. CANDLESTICKS
These copper pieces are reminiscent of church candlesticks, were only used on special
occasions and their place was in the clean room.

53. SONG BOOK
Devotional songs were collected for individual, family and community ceremonies of
praying and singing in this little book. According to its entry, it dates from 1864.

264. MADONNA PICTURE
The painted porcelain picture depicting the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus, was attached
to wood and could have been hung on the wall and it could have been bought from a fair
or a travelling merchant and placed in the sacred space of the house. the apartment.

270–271. THE HEART OF MARY AND THE HEART OF JESUS COLOUR PRINT
Almost every house had a sacred space, where the householders placed symbols
characteristic of their religion, such as the image of the heart of Mary and its counterpart,
the image of the heart of Jesus, bought at a fair or from a travelling merchant, and where
they performed their daily devotions.

274. PRAYER BOOK
The collection of religious texts and songs was published in 1931, it facilitated home
prayer and a personal, deeper religious life, the owner could receive it as a gift from his
parents, godparents.

275. HOLY BIBLE
This leather-bound Holy Bible, published in 1914, belonged to the Bárányos family,
whose members recorded important family events on the blank pages, such as births,
deaths, and even the purchase of a pig on 3rd September 1952.

276. COLLECTION OF MILITARY PRAYERS
Such publications helped to satisfy the spiritual and religious needs of soldiers in World
War I, the collections contained support for all the trials of military life, for example special
prayers were prescribed in case of injury or death.

277. HOLY IMAGES
The small images often received as a reward, gift or souvenir were used for personal
devotion, the confession slips proved that the Easter confession had been done and the
favourite or the one with a certificate was stored in the Bible or the prayer book and used
as a bookmark.

279. DECORATIVE HANDKERCHIEF OF THE WORLD EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS
The 34th World Eucharistic Congress was organised in Budapest between 25–29. May
1938, with the representation of 33 countries, in which 480 Száhahalombatta residents
participated.
